I am making a baby cradle (34"l x 16"h x width is 14" at
bottom and 16" at the top) and i am getting to the point
where i need to install the rockers on the bottom...they
will be dovetailed the width of the base (14")....this is
very similar to the colonial cradle that norm built

what should the radius of the rockers be? i understand
that the cradle should not rock more than 10* to either side.....

any suggestions on this???

I have no idea what the radius should be, but 10" to either side sounds
like a hell of a lot. Sure you could maybe rock it that far but I don't
think the kid would like it much. Rocking just a couple of inches each
directions should be far enough I would think, no matter how far you
COULD rock it.

I have gone out to find myself. If I return before I get back, keep me
here.

I think he meant 10 DEGREES which is what is specified in the FAQ on
making cradles. I prefer swing cradles- and mother doesn't have to bend so
far to get to the child.

I recently made one of about that size from a book plan, and it works
great. The rocker radius is 21".

I just built one. The rocker radius was 53 inches. The rocker length was 27
3/4" from tip to tip. It rocked just fine and the baby is happy in it.

This sounds like a NORM project. Is that right ? I made a rocker from an
antique that I saw and it measures about the same as the rocker below. Good
luck!
