That's "Tole Painting", not "Tool Painting" Steve. I'm not clear on
what it is exactly, but I don't thing it involves painting scenes on
Diston saws...

they tole paint saws and such. people make cheep pine nailed together stuff and
paint it to make it look nice. sorry but that is YUK to me.
It has at least as long a pedigree as chip carving, also Scandinavian.
People may call saw painting and cheap nailed pine with a coat of paint
tole painting, but that doesn't make it so.
I claim I'm always right, but as this group is only too glad to remind
me, that doesn't make it so :-).

My wife is a very talented tole painter and instructor, her skills are at
least the equivalent of some good woodworkers I know (better than mine.)
Don't confuse the stuff you see at church bazaar sales with what talented
artists can do with paint on furniture and other objects.

pine cutout things and tole paint. makes me shudder. we are here in america
where things get deluded.
