I have a Buffalo Band Saw (model number BP VBS 14) from the early to mid
1980s. I need a few parts for it, specifically the two cast aluminum
blocks that attach to the table in order to allow the table to tilt. I
also need the aluminum table insert (not absolutely necessary since I
could make one), and a set of replacement tires. Any ideas for where I
can find parts for this brand of saw or better yet, who made Buffalo
saws back in the 80s or who did Buffalo become? I've recently noticed
that it appears that the new Sears Craftsman band saw has parts that are
identical to my saw's especially the table insert and cast aluminum
blocks but I thought I would check out options before purchasing their
offers. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

They are still around, saw is generic Chiwaneese iron. If you have found a
Sneers part that fits lucky you! (could well be from the same factory,
no easy way to tell) (Bet they are some zinc/dead beer can alloy a.k.a.
pot metal, not real Al.)

I have the saw and was able to pick up a new trunion from another clone
dealer. I wouldn't be surprised if a trunion and the other parts from
the Delta or Rockwell it was cloned from would work or the same from a
comparable clone.

Buffalo is a Taiwanese and now possibly a mainland China brand. I
purchased my saw in 1982 and it's still going strong.

Thanks for the information. Soon after I posted this message I found
information about the company. Buffalo is still around and at:

http://www.buffalotool.com/

You are correct about their parts number. Rich was very helpful. If
you would
like to purchase new items from Buffalo they can be reached at:

buffa...@mindspring.com

or through retailers such as
http://www.sktoolstore.com/buffalo/bufindex.html

Thanks again, Mike

Once again, thanks. You've been a big help. I've already contacted
them. I cannot wait to use my "new" band saw. BTW, what part of
Indiana do you reside?
