There's also a lever on the motor (opposite the blade) Is that a brake? It
doesn't do anything. Can that be fixed?
I would have bought it for the $175 asking price but I don't want to get
stuck with 200#s of steel if the motor should burn out.
That happened to me with a Crapsman radial arm saw just recently. It's about
25 years old.
Anyone have that particular model? any comments would be much appreciated.

The saw was manufactured in 1964 so your estimate of the age is close.
I suspect my saw will outlive me. It's built like a tank and I have no
fear of the motor dying. The saw does seem to be a little underpowered
at 10A.
I've got a manual for mine so if you can't find one from Delta let me
know and I'll try to copy it for you.
If you need a RAS this would probably be a good one. (if it's in good
shape)
