I have been seeing a new line of power tools in the stores that have
the Tim Allen logo on them. Does anyone know if they are of good
quality? I am especially interested if anyone has any experience with
his cordless drills. Are these possibly made by another manufacturer
and then stamped with his name? Thanks.

There was a small piece in a magazine about them a while back. They are a
consumer grade tool built by Ryobi to his specs. Apparently Tim Allen did some
of the design work himself A large portion of the profits goes to charity,
kinda like Paul Newman and his salad dressing.

Well I don't know about that but just for a laugh I have a old drill with
a name plate on it that reads MORE POWER as a brand name.

Just a WAG but I'd say it was marketing hype and low quality.
but then again, the Tim Allen Signature Series Hammer I have is
fantastic.
so you never know...

there was a small bit about them on a recently run segment on the
history channel on the history of power tools. I recall that the
comments made were positive in nature
that the tools had the hobbiest in mind and that Tim Allen did some of
the design work himself
and had them built to specs?

True enough, but of one thing I'm unalterably sure: if they stick a star's
name on it, with that star espousing quality, I will NOT buy it. And that
means tools, cakes, candies, diets, beers, cars, motorcycles, clothing,
political ideas, or religious befuddlements.
