I have inherited a 1976 Craftsman 12 inch radial arm saw in superb
condition but lacking an instruction or parts manual. Unfortunatly
Sears cannot help. Does any body out there have such a manual that
they would be prepared to photocopy for me. All expenses incurred
would be refunded.

Model number off the saw? Does yours have a cast iron arm and tracks? I
think yours may be too new for me.

I have a model 113.29410. Doubt there is much difference but probably
better if you can find the exact model number for book. I am really
surprised Sears would not have it on film at least. Might try Emerson, I
believe that is who made them.

You are welcome to copy of my book if you think it will be of use to you.

Dave,

I too have a model 113.2330 RAS and am in need of the manual and any
other insight you can give me about setting it up.

Would you be kind enough to make a copy of the manual for me? Please
let me know the cost.

If the copy is not to blurred, it might be possible to scan it and
have an electronic version. I'll be happy to attempt this and send
you a CD (if the quality is there).

Let me know if the offer stands and the cost, and I'll send you my
mailing address.

Thanks

Chet

Try looking up your RAS at Sears Parts. They may have a downloadable
manual.

Watch out. You are probably violating copyright laws. Better to go to
Sears for the manual.

I am inclined to doubt that Sears would prosecute on this one. For the most
part, manufacturers will supply replacement manuals either free or at low cost,
so that's often a good option. If the manual isn't available from the
distributor or manufacturer, though, I wouldn't worry about violating copyright
laws...almost certainly no one is going to bitch if you make a single copy
(assuming they even find out) even if the manual is available currently. Now,
if you set up in business supplying manuals for old tools, supplied home-made
copies and did a land office business, I'd guess you'd be hearing from company
lawyers ASAP.

Ivan I also have a 12" Craftsman RAS that I am trying to restore. I have
found a few user manuals that have good information. I would be happy to
either scan or copy for you. Scanning and saending you a PDF file would be
the cheepest option (FREE) for both of us. Then you just print it out on
you home printer. (Inkjet or laser printer)
The manuals I have are for
113.23301 12" Radial Arm Saw
113.29411 10" Radial Arm Saw

These are most handy if you are trying to align the saw for accurate cuts.

Alternatively, what's the question OP's after? There's little if
anything unique to the machine unless it's just to have for the sake of
having....

Though you have the 12", to be on the safe side, contact these folks to see if your saw is a candidate for this replacement kit. I'm not familiar with your saw, so I'm wondering if a 10" blade can also be used on it. Won't hurt to ask. http://www.radialarmsawrecall.com/

My brother has a 10" and they sent him a replacement kit.

I got mine for $35, so that's what it's worth.
And if it doesn't qualify for the recall, then it's worth even less.
So good luck with that "low balling" thing.

Huh? -MIKE- is a long time poster here and well respected.

You asked for "a good price to SL for it" and he just told you he paid $35
for his.

He also told you about a recall kit for saws like yours, perhaps you should
check that out?

I don't know whether to take you seriously or not. I hate it when women
play the girl card. # me 2 from a mans point of view. Women want to be
respected and taken seriously but play this card to get a man to do the
work for them. You sound like you know enough to do the research. Show
some pride.

Sorry you get so offended by truthful information and find it so
"unnessassary."

About the only thing that was keeping any decent value on those at all
was the chance at getting a new table and guard from the recall.
However, since (as another poster pointed out) yours doesn't qualify,
that lowers its value even more.

There are way too many of them around with very few people actually
wanting them.
Basic economics: high supply+low demand=low value.

Will you find some sucker who doesn't know this and will pay a lot for
it? Anything's possible.
Will you find them in here? Highly improbably.

We are not your research department, as to what your radial saw is
worth it is worth what someone will pay. Not a real great idea to put
your phone number on the net either. Now wander off the Craiglist and
pay for FS ad there.

The recalls were on the 10" homeowner saws, not the 12".
A 12" blade would have put it in their Commercial or Industrial lines.
For a time Sears sold a re-branded Dewalt 7790, which is a very solid
12" saw that could easily be worth $250+.

As others have pointed out most Craftsman RAS are worth way less than
the $100 offer from Emerson for the motor under that recall.

I have a vintage 10" covered by the recall and although it is a good,
accurate and solid saw with which I've tackled many projects over the
years. It's time has come as I have a nice 10" cabinet saw and 12" SCMS
in my shop and need the room.

I would like to keep the saw but I haven't the room for it. I've
considered selling it and watched prices on used RAS's for probably 5
years or better. The only thing that makes sense (practical or
economic) sense to me is to ship off the motor and collect $100. I
figure that by doing the bit of work to remove it and taking the $100
offered, I will be about $150 ahead of the game vs. screwing around
trying to sell it and loading it up into somebody's truck or car.

Not to mention the fact that I can probably get some $$ by dropping the
rest of the saw off at the local metal scrapper.

I read it, too. Doesn't really change what i wrote.
I don't buy that it could easy be worth $250, even if it's a 12.
Especially if it's old.
