Okay,

I've just "won" an ebay bid on a Craftsman 1hp router (PN 315.17550).
Unfortunately, I did my research "after the fact", which isn't so
uncommon ~:-)

I haven't heard many good opinions about this router (well, I did a
deja.com search and came up with a bunch of Tool Snob Hate Mail).

My questions are as follows:

1) What kind of trouble can I expect from this router? Should I go
ahead and order some spare parts?

2) Has anyone used this router and are you able to give me any tips on
operation? Tool Snobs: Please don't tell me to throw it away/use it as
an anchor. I'm on a budget (big budget since I bought a house), and
I've bought it to use, for better or worse.

3) Does someone have a contact address at Sears so I can try and get a
manual? And a collet wrench??

Thank you for your help ahead of time.

Regards

Eric, I have one of these and have found it to be a very good little router. I
have had mine for several years now and have never had any problem with it.
However I can't say about a used router and what kind of treatment it has had.
The 315 .17550 is made by Ryobi tools for Sears. Go to the Sears web site you
should find everything you need. I don't have the URL but it shouldn't be to
hard to find it with a seach.

I have had a 1hp Craftsman router for the last 19 years. It has never given
me any problems, and it has received significant use and abuse. I do not
have the model number etc. (it is out in the "shop"), but if you would like
copies of what I have on it, email me you address and I will send you a copy
of the manual (if I can still find it).
