Hi

I'm wondering if anybody has bought the Canwood brad nailer that shoots 18
gauge nails from 3/8" to 1-3/16".

As it is on sale from House of Tools in Canada at $ 39.99 I am quite
suspicious of the quality and am wondering if anybody else has bought one of
these guns.

Anybody bought one and have an opinion?

TIA

Cameron

I have a similar nailer under the Canwood label but paid around a hundred bucks
for it last summer at HOT. (House of tools))
Seems to work O.K..
The one on sale in ths store wasn't the one I bought. I seems smaller and
rougher finish.
It's really hard to know what you are buying at HOT as they private label
several differnt grades of merchandise all under the Canwood label.
Check our the guarantee first. <g>

Hi Cameron,
Most of those inexpensive Brad nailers come from Taiwan. Good for
most Weekend Wood Warriors but if you use it in a production situation
you will notice that after a while nails do not counter sink. When you
buy it purchase a repair kit asap along with an extra plunger. The
plunger or hammer is what pushes the nail down and is made of a low
quality steel that will bend after repetitve use. Make sure you oil it
daily so no rust appears. They also have a very finish on the inside
of the casting.
Good Luck!

I can second Kurt's comments on not being able to countersink. It seems to
be about 50% of the time that it doesn't countersink. Also consider that the
safety mechanism sometimes causes a dent in the wood that needs to be filled
as well. Could be the softer pine trim that I've been nailing. In article

I checked it out in the store. Looks pretty flimsy but might be look for a
hobbiest. I have been fooled before at HOT. Now I definitely-visually inspect-
the sale items before purchasing.
They are often not the same items as listed in the catalogue.
Your mileage may differ. :-)
