Last summer I was getting a collection of books from Time-Life and
Woodsmith called "Custom Woodworking" I was wondering if anyone had
heard of these and knew anything about the set. I just stopped getting
them and best I can tell Time-Life no longer does books.

Anybody got any ideas on it?

Thanx

Yeah, I was getting them too. All the sudden they stopped. I got 3 of them.
The only thing I didn't like is it seemed ALOT of the info overlapped from
book to book

Yes they have quit making books so their web site says, but if you go to
their Australian web site it is still available. When I didn't receive my
last book I called up to bitch about investing all the money and not being
able to finish the set. They said my book was on back order. Well I have
received it and when I got home today there was the one for next month. I
don't know if they are not printing and just filling peoples orders. Maybe
if enough people said they wanted it they would start up again. The only
problem I had with them is every once in a while the book was damaged. That
can happen, so I fill out the paper work telling them I want another and it
is like no one reads what you send back, I requested one of them so I guess
I will have to that with the other. If I was you I would call them on the
phone give them you account number and ask what is going on. I really like
the books, allot of build it your self ideas. There was another series
about building furniture I think, but I bet that is gone too. That was
going to be the next series I would work on.

I called Time Life about the books and they do still have some. They
also have a series called "The Art of Woodworking" which I ordered 10
from what they have left. The custom woodworking books were to be
printed and offered the beginning of last year, but the decision to
close up the book store caused the Custom Woodworking series to be
discontinued before it got finished. You might want to get some of the
"Art of Woodworking" series.

Time Life's number is 1-800-468-9755

Follow-up:

I got an e-mail today and was informed, I'm paraphrasing,

"Since no one reads anymore (because of video tapes and DVD's) we quit
making books."

I have 9 books and they said that was the complete set. I still haven't
received a reply from August Home, Woodsmith's Publisher, but it would
be nice if they would pick up the series, since I feel there were more
planned.

Now I'm kinda disappointed that I'm paying to send my 7 year old to
school so he can learn to read since no one will be making books anymore
at this rate.
