RANT: It might just be me, but I have the hardest time dealing with the
Autobatten system Northwave uses. Whenever I'm repairing a Northwave
sail, it is really difficult getting the battens out so I can get to
the area needing repair. Then when the repair is completed, getting
the battens back in is a real war! I'd bet I spent nearly half an hour
just getting 3 battens back in today. There is so little room that it
is just about impossible to get the strap over the inner end of the
battens without damaging something else. I've completely released the
tension strap, but once these sails are more than on season old, the
tension cord just won't hardly loosen. The two sails I worked on today
were all puckered up along the leading edge due to the tightness of
the tension cord. Does anyone else have the same problems with the
Autobatten system?

I'll be glad when somebody's brain fart at Northwave has run its course
and they get on to a more user friendly batten tension system. They
could learn a lot from Pryde on that issue. Thank God, the Northwaves
I'm proud to own have the old style ladderloc batten tensioning system.
RANT OVER!

Well Bob, I've never had to remove the battens, so I couldn't
say whether they have issues or not, but the autobatten system means I never
have to deal with batten tension (it's always right) like you might have to
in an NP.

Looks to me like taking the battens out could be a real pain, so I just pop
over to Northwave when I have issues, and let them deal with it. ;*)

What he said. I haven't messed with batten tension for years. Maybe a pain
for sail repairs, but a gift for end users.

Well, I have a sail/kite repair facility on Margarita Island and have two Northwave sails in my loft awaiting repair and need to remove battens to do the repair so "popping over" to Northwave is not an option. They (battens) are a royal pain in the ass!!!!!
