Hello F2 sailors. I have been sailing Mistral for some years, but might choose F2
for the next season (from several reasons I woun't discuss here). Convince me!
Any info on the F2 Peter Thommen edition appreciated. Size, weight, shape, etc..

I own a 1992 f2 Sputnik 270 WC. To me it's the best board I've ever
sailed/owned. It has an amazing wind range. I can get it planing in
16 mph winds with my 5.5 and use it all the way down to a 4.0 ( I weigh
140 lbs)
( I change fins when using the smaller sails). It's fast and very light.
I used to be amongst the slower sailers, but since getting this board
I keep up or sometimes pass the fast guys.

I have an F-2 Orbit 9'6" 124 liter model that I bought used a year ago. I had an opportunity
to compare it against the Fanatic board series and have sailed in a wide range of conditions. Even
though this large slalom board may not be in the highest performance range of F-2s line, I find myself
planing easy and more often than not passing people with similar rigs. For moderate priced boards I am pleased with my board, but I have never sailed on a Mistral so I will not compare the average quality of each manufacturers boards. I say try a Sputnik or something at your local shop.
Good Sailing.

Is there a Peter Thommen Edition? I once read that the boards
Peter Thommen shapes for Bjorn are very different from the
production F2 boards. Of course the differences might have
been narrowed with the new Spudnik series. Still, it would be
interesting to compare the board shapes that get sold to the
public with the custom board shapes of the team riders.

The purpose of my original posting was to find out if F2 have planned to launch the
Peter Thommen Edition they have talked so much about. I haven't got any answer to
that question from the Net, yet. But I have got lots of recommendations for "old"
Sputnic's from satisfied windsurfers. Thank you for all the friendly emails.
I do agree that the Sputnic 270 is a good board, but it's an old shape based on the
ideas of more than 3 years ago. In fact I have had one myselves so I should know what
I am talking about. What I wanted to know was if F2 had planned to produce Bjoern's
No-nose boards or not?

Rumours: F2 have made a hollow board (no foam kernel) in the old 285 shape, and are
going to release a new 280, 285 and 290 in this technology. Some sailors used this
new hollow boards in this years World Championship, but had some problems with
penetrating water (leaks). That implies that they have produced at least 500, but
where are those boards?
