And if anyone has any used intermediate gear I'll be in the market soon,
too. We will be moving down in the next couple of months and I'm picking
the sport back up. I'll be buying some used, some new, depending on what
is out there and will need everything from the start to finish (I have a
shortie and a spreader bar left over -- that's it!). ;-)

Email me off-list, m...@hansandersonMYWETSUIT.com

Remove my wetsuit (commando!) to send.

What.. Huh.. Thought of what? Sorry, I was drinking some homebrew.
You were saying something? Ohhhhh... No, my place is more of a
beertatorship... You'll like what I'm serving or you'll get the hell
out.

Some days you're the dog,
and some days you're the hydrant.

Alrighty then...
I think the Dog's House would definitely be penciled in on the map as a
watering hole, if I ever found myself in thirsty in Tejas...
Nice job, bro!

p.s. You don't use that "downstream H20" for brewing do you?

The answer for both questions is the same. We don't have a 'new board shop'
but do have a shop called Cline Street Sailboards. The place is loaded with
boards, sails, rig components and kite gear as well. Most of it is on
consignment, some is rental, even some new but I'll promise you there's
probably gear in there many sailors couldn't hope to own at new gear prices.
Long boards and beginner gear is in limited supply but reasonable in price.
Intermediate to expert gear in plentiful supply- its a unique place on the
south end of Corpus (Waldron Road exit off I-358). I don't work for
Oliver, I do know him, even admit to liking him- his shop should not be
missed if you're coming to Corpus. cli...@flashnet.com

Nope... No recycled H2O products here. The yellow tint doesn't
develop till after brewing begins. ;-)

Sheesh -- I had one carboy and a fermenter, an unused hydrometer (I prefer
surprises) and a few odds and ends. You're a freakin' brewery.

I bought beerocracy.com to use as the centerpiece of my beer commercial
pitch to Big Beer Company for one meelyun dallars. It's going to rock, if
I ever actually do it. I just wanted to make it active and have
*something* there so I wouldn't be a squatter. Thus, my favorite homebrew
recipe.

I just sold all my homebrew stuff (there wasn't much) as I want to
free up time for potential TOW. I'll have to buy my beer, I guess. I
just hope there are some decent microbreweries in Corpus Christi.

Beertatorship sounds like beer made with potatoes, but I might go register
it anyway. ;-)

Roy,

Yes, I was at CCS when I visited a few weeks ago. They did have a lot of
boards and sails, but there were some problems:

The boards had a price, and that's about it. Some of them were in good
shape, but others were faded and for nearly all of them I'd have had to
gauge the length and volume myself.

There were TONS of sails, which is great. However, they were all rolled
up in bags and it would have taken quite awhile to unroll and check each
and every one out. In the shops I've been to in the gorge they'll hang
the sails from tall rafters, like a carpet barn, and you can thumb through
them quickly.

It's a good place, and I'm sure I'll be buying gear there. I didn't see a
lot of components, like booms, masts and bases. I might have just missed
them, though.

Do people in CC try to sell their own gear at all, or do they consign it
at CSS? What if I want to buy new, do they order? Are there ever any
swap meets in CC?

Hans,
Oliver is helpful, with a good database in is head. When it doubt,
ask. And last time I was there, he had carpet on the floor so that
you could roll sails out. I know that hanging them looks cool, but
it takes lots of space. The local Dallas shop keeps them rolled,
but they love it when you roll them out. So will Oliver.

I remember those days... vaguely... Very vaguely...

Shhhhh... Don't say that or the health inspector will show up.

Well, then put a link to your favorite Dog House brewer. ;-)

At least you can get decent beer in Corpus now. When I first started
going down, they had both kinds. Bud and Miller. Now you can get a
decent Sierra, Spaten and Paulaner.

But for the record...
1/2 barrel, 2-level RIMS brewing system being built
power driven grain mill
fermentation capacity - 29 gallons
aging/conditioning capacity - 76 gallons
serving capacity - 30 gallons
CO2 capacity - 50 lbs
taps - 6
Coke machine - 1 (for long necks, of course)

I don't bottle. Period.

I typically brew 10 gallons at a crack because it's easier to
deal with than 15 gallons. I only made 40 gallons last year,
but I've already done that so far this year. I've never made
more than 200 gallons in a single year (and that's the story
I'm sticking to). And I usually bring homebrew to Corpus for
the Thanksgiving holiday (skipped last year because we brought
a keg of Spaten Octoberfest instead).
