I found a place in the Virgin Islands that rents windsurfing equipment.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about the boards that they rent.

Can anybody give me a critical review of the following boards.

Gem 9 0
Protech 9 0
Protech 9 3
Seatrend 9 1
Seatrend 9 3
Seatrend 9 5

If you can compare them to something I know that would be very helpful.
The boards that I already know well are:

89 West Wind 280 : Good all around
86 West Wind 295 : Handles well but heavy
90 Hi Tech 9.0 : Good all around
90 OBrein Pro Am : Heavy, floaty, no rocker (OK but not good)
86 Seatrend 9 4 : Heavy, floaty, no rocker (OK but not good)
Bic Electric Rock : Good all around
Mistral Screamer : Fast but squirrely

Thanks.

I know what GEM stands for...

Got Enough Money?

Well, that's what Nevin Sayre told me.

Then I learned that the G really stands for Greene of Richard Greene
and the M stands for McGain of Phil McGain. Apparently these are
some of the fastest boards currently being used on the World Cup tour.
One of Nevin's boards is a GEM. I'm surprised that these are
available at a rental place.

OK - not much of a critical review.

I own one of these. A very floaty 120 liters. Easy to waterstart, jibe and
it is uphaulable, and tackable. A medium speed slalom board ~ 12-20 knots.
I've had it in faster wind, but it gets very squirrely, because it is so
floaty. Thick tail doesn't help much in the chop. If you can find so smooth
water, it can really fly. I have flown a 4.5 to 6.4 meter sail. I wouldn't put
a bigger sail on it, although I have seen some. Out of production for about 3
years.
