Have opportunity to buy BIC RUMBA 310 on decent price,
maybe since here in Poland is now serious winter?

Have You guys any impressions using this stuff?

I'm 70 kg heavy, will be surfing on flat waters.

As to my practice, ehmm.. were surfing very lot,
even raced some,Andrzej Juszkiewicz, Cracow but in ancient times when the
WINDGLIDER was Olympic Class and sign of newest
technology, originated as to be told from APOLLO
space program!

May it blow from behind,
Andrzej Juszkiewicz, Cracow

Andrzej,

The Bic Rumba is a decent board but not very fast when compared to newer
boards in that size category without dagger boards. For a beginner who
has had some practice on a long board, it's a good first board to buy
used. It has a slalom board feel and the dagger will help you get up
wind in a pinch.

So I've done it, bought that board as You advised, and get crazy -
bought also two sails
- NP V8'5.4 and V5'6.4, also used but only one season -
saw it personally - date of making on them is 1998.
That board is BIC RUMBA version RACETECH, heard that
is lighter than ordinary RUMBA but less solid.
For this money I'd buy only new board at season.
But to matter: sending this note to you by news, not to your
account for one purpose:
if some Aussies would read this and may lend their summer
for one weekend...

Andrzej,

I have a 1993 RaceTek Rumba. Although the track has many positions, I've
almost always sailed with it in the rear position.

Ben,
Thanks for a tip, just adjusted it for spring.

However, have many other things to learn.
Imagine, when were surfing, it was straight stiff aluminium mast,
no harness, no footstraps, sails were perfectly triangular, free
leach was to be hauled and battens were removable.
None of course heard about aerial gybes etc.. Sweet times...
Daggers were removable but by pulling up by hand.

So think I'm absolute novice, have only lack of fear of varying
ballance.

Tell me please how this board is anxious to plane, what sails you
use, how often are you surfing with dagger lowered, if it is easy
to gybe on it etc...

Andrzej,

The board planes fairly easily. I don't sail it much anymore because I
graduated to short boards a few years ago. However, I've sailed it in
the 6.8 to 5.0 range. I used the dagger whenever I wanted to really
point up wind, usually in sub-planing conditions. When conditions were
planable, the dagger was fully retracted (unless I got into to trouble).

The first thing you should learn is getting into the harness so your
arms won't get tired.
