Anybody out there sailing a fanatic BEE 264.

I'd be interested on your opinion as I'm just about to purchase a board for
slashing around in high winds when my wave board isn't suitable. I have a
278 so I feel it would slot in nicely for usage between the two?

How big are you and your 278 ? How big / small is the wave board ?

I sailed the Bee 264 last year a couple of hours with a 6.2 Slalom
sail and 32 blade fin. Planed really early, accelerated quicly,
felt quite loose, fun and easy to use.
However i felt the board was too thick for
me (140 lbs) / too much volume to make it worthwile. There was always
a tendency to roll around its longitudinal axis in the jibes.
The Fanatic rep. running the test session thought the fin was too large
for the board, otoh, for a sail of that size i need a fin in that range
and with a smaller sail i couold use a smaller board. Also, my own
268 / 88 l has much more control (and the same looseness) in
the jibes with a similar fin.
So i wouldn't recommend the board if you are also quite light, if you
are at least 170 lbs and your waveboard is quite small, it could be the
right choice.

This board is great, works very well in everything. But remember that it is a
freeride with more of a slalom tendency. It is awsome for a heavyweight in high
winds. It planes too quickly for lightweights. At 92ltrs, i'm 206lbs. the thing
rocks. Its the stiffest, most bombproof construction you can buy. The foostraps
and components are the best on the market (Windsurfing Mag March 98). If you're
a lightweight, You would be better off with the Bee 260. In the latest
Windsurfing Mag test (March 98), The Bee264 is the guest choice, and the 260 is
the pro and guest choice. Check it out.
