I'm a 195 lb sailor using 100L F2 board and am looking for the following
sails:
6.5 slalom (power slalom Ezzy vs V6 NP)
5.8 bump & jump (Ezzy vs MPR or NR NP)
5.2 wave (power wave, Ezzy vs MPR/NR NP)

I am thinking about Ezzy sails due to their reputation for durability
and good performance. But locals are telling me to go with
Neil Pryde due to lightness and better handling/performance.

Durability is a high priority important to me. Any recommendations on
which manufacturer to choose.

Dave

Between those two, the Ezzy by a mile, for durability. NR stands for
non-repairable/non-returnable. For durability, power,
value, performance, and service take a look at Northwave,

If you want my opinion, think in this...
Neil Pryde says Light is Right, so that sails are Ok is your goal is a
minimun effort when you sail but if you dont mind a 200 gr. more on your
hand in the entire rig, maybe your choice is the Ezzys sails, I think there
are more durable than the NP that is because the NP have large panels of
Monofilm and the Ezzys not. I have both, but I cant tel you which one last
longer because both are new and I dont have them a lot also one is a 5.7 and
a 4.7 NP and the Ezzy is a 4.0 so the sail that last longer is not the best
one but the one you use less.
Hope this could help you. But to tell you something more buy the one that
looks better when it is rigged on the proper mast and boom.
That is all. Hang Loose to you.

Sorry about the I.E. /Java junk on the other post, they changed things
around on the home page.

Seem pretty tightly spaced to me. If ou sail mainly flatwater or
chop, 6.5 - 5.5 - 4.7 might be ok, if you also go into the surf
6.5 - 5.8 - 5.0 also works (i use 6.5 - 5.7 - 5.0).

What's better ?
Pepsi or Coke ?
Audi, BMW or Mercedes ?
McDonalds or Burger King ?

Ezzy and North certainly have a reputation for good durability which
i can confirm, together with some brands not maarleted in europe.
But otoh most sails are well made, the Pryde's aren't that light
anyway. Maybe taking the cheaper sail with a better mast
is better here than vice versa.

Hi Dave,

I personally have sailed on both and prefer the NP for their superior
performance. The Ezzys do have the edge in durability though and after
sailing 2 quivers of them I feel good recomending them to my friends.

I recently switched from Ezzy to NP and still have only 2 98 Ezzys left to
sell. Here are the details;

For Sale
1998 “Ezzy Sails”

6.5m Power Slalom
(just like new-sailed 4 times)
$ 380.00

5.2 Power Wave
(almost brand new-sailed 1 time)
$ 350.00

These are under wholesale and available now, I have already replaced them.

By the way the spacing you plan worked perfect for me at 210 lbs.

Feel free to e-mail me for any questions. Oh yeah I am in San Diego and have
shipped sails all over so that is not a
problem.

Good sailing

Dave,
I have a 6.6 1996 Transformer Slalom that I have punished severely and it has
proven to be very tough. It is very fast and has tremendous range. Big race
sails can keep up with it, but not much else.I think my Ezzy feels light
myself, but my rig is all top-end carbon. I felt that the NP V8 seems "stiff".
I sailed a NP 5.0 once, and it had damage to the batten ends after one session.
But it was fast. Because of my satisfaction with my 6.6 Ezzy, and their
outstanding customer service, I just purchased three more Ezzy sails, even
though my local dealer pushes NP. Windance, in the Gorge, has some great deals
on used Ezzies. You can't go wrong with either brand one really, but my Ezzy
sails has been 100% kick-ass, and MUCH more affordable that NP. Have fun with
whatever you pick!
