Is the AXXIS the ultimate solution for both SPEED
and wave sailing ??

255 is good board; 258 is better, especially WRT low speed & top end.
IMHO: in waves, you _need_ an appropriate wave fin; OEM one is... OK.
IMHO: in weeds, you _need_ the appropriate weed fin; Grandall NG, you
need one with set-forward ('compensates' for weed fin's 'rake' angle).
255 and 258 are both very durable boards. if you weigh more than 175,
you'll need gale-like winds to be happy with either board. BTW: good
hardware (e.g., straps w single screw anti-rotation (pinned) 'washer'.
IMHO: these are wave boards; if you want absolute speed, get a needle.
IMHO: not the best gybing boards i've ever sailed, but both very good.

The Axxis does not feel like an 18 pound board when you go airborne
with it. It jumps very well and I have no complaints about the weight at
all. It is made a little heavy so that it will not break when landing a
big jump, unlike the 2 piece ATV I saw on the chop this past weekend. I
bought it brand new for $ 995 with fin straps etc.
It is not really designed for ocean wavesailing but excels in heavy chop.
