I have a circa 1984 Windsurfer Rocket 99 (9'9") for sale, along with
mast, boom, and two sails (HiFly 5.4 m and F2 7.0 m). Equipment is in
good shape and hasn't been used at all in the past ten years. For those
unfamiliar with this model, it is a good "transition" board as it can be
uphauled if you have good balance, and is small enough to learn
waterstarts on.

Will entertain all serious offers, I really need to get rid of it.

Hey now, I had some epic sessions on my old Rocket 99. After nose-diving it
into the sand at Ledbetter, the whole front third of the board became
flexible - sailed it for a couple more years. After abandoning it in the
Gorge Performance shop, I later heard that it became a sign.

Shaka!

Hey Stevo,
Ahhh, the 'good ole days'....We were young ,dumb, and full of ummmm.... (well,
that stuff that got all over Monica Lewinsky's dress). High performance- state
of the art....
15 years.....that's a long time in computer time and windsurfing time.
Having modified nose flex decreased the boards' "pearlibility"...if you got
those poly boards hot enough you could modify the rocker line. Waxing
nostalgic......
Speaking of waxing....better get your surfboard waxed up....early Fall NW swells

are on tap...looks like head high to 2X ovrhd for you guys through next
week.....
If you get your "serious" offer in on Daniels' Rocket 99 you could have it
shipped
so you would have it for that next "beyond epic" sesh.

"Don't it always seem to go
You don't know what you got till it's gone............." Joni Mitchell
They took the Rocket 99 and turned it into a sign......

That thing is a fossil and deserves to be either burried out back or afixed to
the wall with a couple of lag bolts.

The Rocket 99 is good for the transition to the looney bin.

Nostagia time!
I got one of these second- or third-hand and learned a bit about
shortboarding on it. For example, the board taught me how to maintain
my aplomb while sailing nearly out of control almost all the time.

I must say, though, that the doughty designers at Windsurfer were well
in advance of the trend toward placing the floatation toward the rear
of the board. Perhaps, on reflection, six or seven solid inches of
thickness and a couple feet of width made the tail of the board
somewhat too floaty. If the board had had even half as much rigidity
as it did floatation, it might have been more controllable.

Those were the days!

I "almost learned" to windsurf on this piece of crap.
I remember the rocket with a mixture of fondness and disgust.

Fondness, because for 100$ I got into the sport, but
Nearly quit before I tried someone elses old "Lechner" board.
a week later I started the upward spiral o' spending that is typical of
us equipment geeks and didn't stop until I had a Protech and a Fanatic
UltraCat for summer sailing.

Back to the Rocket:

It would make a good museum exhibit. It is heavy, does not support a
decent sized fin box, uses plugin mast base...

BTW "small enough to learn waterstarts???" I was most successful
learning waterstarts with a big board - an UltraCat, to be precise.

Cheers
