Where to sail in Austin?
*Lake Travis (Windy Point. 15 min from town)
Note: use Bob Wentz park -- NOT Windy Point Park next door)
This is where most of the WS is done. $5/car or $50/yr pass

*Long Lake, east of downtown.
Good for N winds, heated by powerplant. Duckweed is bad, so
only use in winter when its died off.
*Corpus, obviously (Bird Island) 4hrs away .
Other Central Texas areas.
*Canyon Lake (15 Min or so outside of SA) (50 min from Austin)
*Lake Belton (1 hr north)
Supposedly winds here are 5mph greater and more consistent
than Travis.
Whats the wind like in Austin?
Austin and Central Texas gets wind in conjunction with fronts. The
hi-wind season is Sept-May. Unfortuneately, Travis is gusty and
tends to vary. Typical sail sizes are 5.0-6.5.
In the Summer the wind is light, sail sizes usually range 6.0-7.5
But Texas weather reserves the right to do anything at any time,
following the rule: it requires what you don't own/didn't bring :)
Also note that Corpus has a different wind pattern, which I don't
know.
Whats the water temp?
Travis has a temp range from 56-85
Austin has a windsurf club that meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at
the Mr. Gatti's on Far West Blvd. 6:30 to eat/socialize 7:00 speaker.
