I was in San Carlos for the PWA contest and it was really great. I got a
chance to see the best sailors around. These guys are HOT! I also got to look
at a lot of cool equipment. They have stuff with a lot of graphics on it, but
on the tails of a bunch of the boards was a North Shore Maui logo. I came back
and started to notice the ads in the magazines. So I asked my local dealer and
he didn't know who North Shore is. So I'm wondering who these guys are. Any
one ride these boards? I'm looking for a new wave board and I'm wondering if
it's possible for mere mortals to buy them.
BTW, why was no jumping scored at the event in San Carlos?
Thanks,
Jim
yep - just go to Wind 'n Wave in Santa Monica, they'll fix you right up! In my
humble opinion, these are the best built production boards currently available
(and I've had a chance to look into quite a few high-end boards....)

The North Shore logo was probably referring to the fin.

nope, it was probably referring to the yellow board the fin was attached to.
These guys have been building cutting edge boards for the pros for quite a
while, and now also have a full line of production slalom, as well as wave
boards. Shaper is Richard Green of Gem fame.

Hi Eva
Is North Shore Fins part of the same company.
Hey Jim and all,
I did their website (North Shore Maui) and one of the perks was going thru the
factory up country Maui. I saw that these guys build the boards for most of the
top pros in the world! They had all these test boards with notes from
(this-pro) and (that-pro). All the signed posters in the shaping rooms and
offices were cool. They are also shaping for these guys all the time. I was
totaly stoked to see a couple of them walk in, pay, and pick up the latest
shape...very impressive. I'm not sure of the details or the whys, but we
couldn't comment on or talk about the pros who I met there and who sail on
these boards. (?)
Mike Lovell took me thru the fin shaping and manufacturing which is right there
also. Check out the shots of the fins in the "fins" section of the web site.
Those are all my shots when we were there, not PR set up pictures. Same goes
for the Ricahrd Greene shots.
I was really lucky to be in Maui during the Test centers (American Windsurfer &
Windsurfing) and got to ride several models like the waves and the bump and
jump. YES! Great boards. I've ordered one, and I'm a mere mortal.
I don't want to use this forum for "ads", but you can find dealers on their web
site.

Hook in!

Hey BB.
Thanks for the walk through of the factory.
I think the reason for the secrecy is that the pros board sponsors don't want
everone to know that the pros are all riding North Shore Maui boards painted to
look like F2's, Mistrals, Bics, etc.
Dave.
