These are my impressions on 95 280 Sputnik after sailing it for two full seasons.
It is a fast, early planing board. Because of the relatively curved outline at the rear also easy to gybe.
Best sail size is 6.5 m2, I am using a 6.8m2 North Sails IQ3D race sail.
It has light construction, mine 280 WCE weights 6.8 kg hull only. It might be too fragile for some users.
The only negative side is the flat nose rocker which might limit the recreational appeal if you sail in choppy water.
In flat water it is probably ok for you.

Barrie,
I have owned a F2 280WC, 105l since about '93. I am 6', 200#, and an
aggresive slalom sailor. I used primarily a NP 6.3 VX and blade fins in
solid 15+mph. I have sailed in the inland waterways and bays of Corpus
Christi Tx and the Outer Banks of NC. The 280 is my smallest board and
have sailed it with a 4.5. The 280 was my first shortboard and I found
it to be very nervous, quick reaction to steering, blazingly fast on
flat to moderate chop. My 280 is best jibed aggresively and the more
speed the better. The nose of most F2s are very fragile and I have
damaged it repeatedly. I really love this board and have several
repairs( the tail got crushed inside my van when i was clobbered from
behind). I recommend a board bag. In more than moderate chop, the lack
of nose rocker is a concern cause stuffing the nose is exciting yet
painful stopping method. I am not sure of the durability of the board
for jumping....I usually hit the water before the board. I would
recommend this board for someone lighter than I am but fairly aggresive
sailor in slalom conditions where drag racing is fun.
Steady Wind and Seas that are gentle on your gear,
Cookieman
