Hello

I sort of wonder what those sizes might be. My favorite boom "concept"
of all time was the Windsurfing Hawaii Power Taper... really great
engineering!... then, back in the day the most comfortable size was 1
1/8 inch OD... but most booms were 1 1/4 inch... plus grip.
Then, the idea of ergonomic shaped booms seems reasonable... I like
that idea...
Then most carbon fiber parts in the world are made from standard
modulus fiber. The price of an intermediate modulus carbon fiber
(significantly stiffer) is more then double that of standard modulus
and some is 4 to 5 times more expensive. So, we could make 1" diameter
booms but no one could afford then... hummm...

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the late 80's we made "fixed length"
booms... those were impractical but off the chart stiff... with that
style of boom you could make 1" OD boom arms and still be really
stiff... plus they float... hummm... I really like that idea... 1 boom
for your very favorite sail. Still, back in the real world utility
seems to be more important than optimum... but you never know... I
wonder if anyone would want a custom hand made fixed length carbon
boom... so light and stiff... for that 5.2 of your best race sail...
7.0 or 8.6. I like thinking about this stuff.
well, enough rambling...

Anybody know of something more like 152-210?

My quiver goes from 166 (4.7) to 208 (7.5).

I'm not looking for a perfect fit, but 248, with almost 16" of
unused extension, seems like wretched excess for the 7.5.... not
to mention needing another boom for at least two of the other
sails.

maybe you can find an old Fiberspar.... they used to make an all
Carbon 160-208.... although that would still come up a little short
for your 7.5.

Maui Sails makes a nice 170-230 size... but it's small diameter grip.
I saw someone the other day w/ bicycle grip over the boom grip...
either to make the boom arm bigger or just an quick and dirty way to
regrip the boom.
