Hi all,

Anyone have anythoughts about these sails? I'm looking to replace my
old Gaastra X1s with some free-style, x-over sails and I got a good
price on a Jet 5.9 to replace my 6.0, so now I'm working my way down.
Are there drastic differences in performance in the Pryde wave and
Freestyle sails?

I have no idea, but my 5.9 Jet was my favorite sail until I got my
Gaastra Poison 5.0 properly tuned. I always felt that the Jet was a
very stable and predictable sail, compared to the admittedly older
stuff that was in my quiver. Sorry I can't help you compare it to the
other stuff you mention, I haven't sailed it.

The Jet is more free ride oriented, draft further forward for more
locked in sailing. It's a very light in the hands sail to use. Has a
good tuning range. The 03 and 04 are quite powerful. 02 less range and
power. The Expression is more crossover, with draft further back for
pumping and accelaration. They didn't have a great top end but I'm
told the more recent models have improved. I'd check the NP forum for
mode details.

Well I did have someone keen to swap his 2002 Expression 6.2 for my 2002
Jet 5.9, and after having a go on his Expression I could see why :)

It really depends on how much freestyle vs how much freeride you want to
do. Jets were a really fun freeride sail, but would be mediocre at
freestyle IMO.

If you prefer blasting around ripping gybes and chop hopping go for
the Jet, if you like spinning around and backwinding the sail the
Expression would probably be better.

Cheers

I bought a Jet 5.9 last year to replace a 3 cammed 6.0m. It's sooo nice,
smooth, light, controllable and as stable at the top end as the old cammed
sail.
Totally pleased. Sorry. doesn't really answer your question ;-)
Just bought a Poison to replace my 2 cammed 5.0 but haven't tried it
properly yet.

No worries, I ended up gettin' another 5.4 Jet because I happened
across a screamin' deal. So I'm a happy camper and I think I'll stop
the buying binge now before it's too late.

Thanks all for the input.
