Looking for contact numbers / web addresses for gear rentals on Lake Garda
please (proper shortboards etc, not just beginner gear).

Thanks for any contributions...

Have never been there myself, but I hear very positive things
about "Michiel Bouwmeester" situated at Hotel Pier.

I've been there twice allready. Michiel Bouwmeester's surf centre is
actually the best spot on the lake and they certainly have good and
up-to-date gear. But i also think it's the most expensive option.
Now if you tell me where exactly you're gonna stay, i could give you some
more information.

Haven't decided where to stay yet - wanted to see where the best rentals
were first!

Hehe. Well then, if money is not an issue, you should stay at Hotel Pier
(this is the place where Michiel Bouwmeester's surf centre is). Only
disadvantage is that Hotel Pier is a bit isolated. I mean it's not near a
town centre, but if you're going to windsurf, it's the place to be.
I've been to Torbole twice and "Conca d'Oro" is definetely the best place to
rent gear in Torbole.
Be sure to check this out: http://www.garda.com/Default_n.htm
When are you going? July and August are actually the only months that the
winds are good. The hotter it is, the harder it blows (no funny remarks
about this sentence please =p).

Excellent site - thanks for that. Planning to go in July, so should be good.
Cheers

Hi,
http://www.surfsegnana.it/inglese.htm

Between Riva and Torbole, you'll find a lot of rental, camping and
hotels.
Hotel Pier is nice, more expensive and isolated (shuttles are
available).

Also a very nice website. This is the place where i went (in '97 and '98),
but Conca d'Oro is definetely the best spot in Torbole. The prices are even
a little lower, they have as much boards & sails (Mistral boards and
Neilpryde sails) and the wind is usually better there (believe me). So, the
next time i'm going to Torbole (bloody nice town centre by the way), i'll be
surfing at Conca d'Oro.

Since I go there every year since more then 10y now, I have also
collected plenty of info.

For rental I advise:
- Hotel Pier (Michiel Bouwmeester): best wind, expensive, almost no
alternatives beside windsurfing overthere (but it is possible to stay
in Riva and Torbole, and go there by regular shuttle-bus)
- Conca D'Ora (just outside Torbole center): second best spot for wind,
very good rental material, easy launching, expensive parking (if any
place available!!)
- Vasco Renna (Torbole center): good launching spot, only on- or off-
shore wind (as all following sites), decent prices, decent rental
equipment
- Marco Segnana Torbole: Best spot for beginners, but due to wind
coverage in local bay less appropriate for advanced surfers, decent
rentals
- Marco Segnana Riva: nice beach, good launching possibility, decent
rentals, wind averages at a knot lighter than in Torbole, changes for
surfing with Peler (morning wind from north) are very limited.
- Club Mistral Riva: good rentals, most downwind spot, launching is
difficult, more expensive, more focussed on beginners.

Hi Mark, try the site www.garda.com , it is not complete, because I miss a
reference to Michiel Bouwmeester, who has a great place at Pier, but it is a
start.

Anyone recommend any good campsites in this area? I was thinking about
driving there with my own kit next year.....
