In an article published in the Calgary Herald (not transcribed to the
Internet edition), the Eagle Lake park manager described Potter as a
very competent windsurfer who had sailed in the 4.0-5.0 conditions many
times.
Potter's wife called the park at 1am after her husband did not return
home. Other windsurfers said they had last seen Potter at 8pm. Fire
and Police boats were used to retrieve his body after 3 hours of
searching. Potter was reported to have been wearing a life jacket. No
cause was given for the accident, police said an autopsy will be
conducted today.
Potter is survived by wife Corina; stepsons Joshua, seven, Vincent,
five, and four year-old Mathhew Tolg; his daughter Elizebeth Potter,
seven, and 1-1/2 week old son, Ethan Ryan. Best wishes to all.
