Hi guys,
Did anyone surf or windsurf in Penang, Malysia, I'm planning to go there on
5th july.
How is the weather -wind - waves like then overthere ?

No waves to speak of, and wind this time of year is very flaky, main short
sessions from passing thunderstorms etc. When there is prevailing wind its
very light, so its mostly very large gear (eg 9+ sqm & large boards). No
rentals to speak of, the hotels have old junk. There is a small community of
windsurfers who sail from the Chinese Swimming Club on the north western
side of the island. Late July sometimes sees a few days at a time from the
south west but again, nothing really outstanding.

Don't forget the sea snakes (extremely venomous but very small mouths)
that pop up next to you every now and then. Also the water quality is
terrible with bacteria (open sewers throughout the island). Beautiful
place though, but stick to the hotel pools. Water around the island has
zero visability, but get a few miles away to one of the many
surrounding islands (or mainland) and visability is awesome. Great
diving.
