I would like to get some feedback on the F2 Xantos 325 and 310
board. I am thinking about buying either one. Currently I own
an 1986 Mistral Malibu board (11'8) and a Fanatic Lite Bee 9'4
board. Sails I have are a 7.3 North Prisma and a 6.3 World Cup
Slalom Rushwind. I also plan on buying a North Convertigo 5.2
Sail. With my weight being about 165 lbs, I would think that the
Xantos 325 would be a perfect choice with my 6.3 and 7.3 Sails.
How easy is to uphaul a 6.3 and a 7.3 on the Xantos 325 ? What
about on the Xantos 310 ? Any feedback on these two boards is
greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

-DJ

DJ,

I've been sailing my Xantos 325 for about a year now and really like it.
I weigh 165#'s also, and use the Xantos as a light wind alternative to my
Fanatic Shark and Rat. It's great for marginal days with my 6.7 because
it's plenty fast and entertaining if you do plane, but also sails well if
you don't. Note that I said "sails" and not "schlogs". At our weight it
has enough volume that you can putt around quite nicely, and even make
reasonable upwind progress by using a big fin and sinking the upwind
rail. It's plenty stable for uphauling, planes very quickly, goes
reasonably fast, and cranks pretty good jibes (surprisingly tight).
Still glad I bought it for those too common 10-15 MPH days in Texas.

Rick

I have a Xantos 310 and I frequently uphaul a 7.8m2 sail. I weigh 195lbs
and find the 310 has plenty of floatation for uphauling. I haven't tried
the 325, but the 310 is a great board and will work fine with your sails.
You may want to buy a large fin for light days - I use a Finworks Pro 420
or a True Ames 17.5" for the 7.8m2 sail.

Any Xantos board is great. Don't overlook the Xantos 295. I own that
board and I can still uphaul my cambered 6.8. I have used that board from
a 7.0 down to a 5.0. If the 295 is just too small for you, I would go
with the 310.

Good Luck,

Just give me wind and I will sail.

be my board of choice, esp. if I (190#) could uphaul it fairly easily.

One thing that no one has mentioned is what kind of water:fresh or Salt
you plan to sail on. I am also 160 lbs and find my 310 almost too floaty
at hatteras but just right in Saratoga lake. The 325 felt like a boat
with a rushwind 7.5 at the Kalmus show. You need to keep your site and
wind conditions in mind. This last weekend I was crusin quite well in
fresh water with a 6.2 in 8-14 mph winds.
Either way with a xantos you won't go wrong.
