Yesterday, I went out looking for a pair of rear surround speakers to add
to my growing home theater components list (during the past year, I have
simply been using a pair of old bookshelf speakers and, of course, they
do not produce real quality surround effects).

I set out to demo two surround speaker types: the Infinity Reference E-L
and the Yamaha NS-A102. Three area electronics stores I went to didn't
have or even carry the NS-A102 (Circuit City, Good Guys & Music Land) so
I was able to listen only to the Infinity. I went over to Ken Cranes; they
carry the NS-A102 but the salesman said they're out of stock and it will
be 2 to 3 weeks before they can get another NS-A102s in stock.

This salesman, however, tried to sell me a BOSE 101 Music Monitor instead,
saying that the Bose is far superior to both the Infinity & Yamaha models.
Is this true? I thought I read sometime in this thread that the Bose 101
is not a true-blue surround sound effect speaker; however, I'm not too
positive about my recollection.

Please help! Should I go ahead and buy the Bose 101 (almost the same price
as the NS-A102 ($175) and Infinity ($169) at $189 w/o the bracket), or
wait for the NS-A102?

BTW, I don't know if it is relevant at all, but I use a pair of tower 3-way
loudspeakers (NS-505B) for my front main speaker requirement.

Thanks in advance.
