With the headphones then unplugged from the unit
switch it back and and test to see if it works now.
I am suggesting doing this to see if this will clean the
tiny switch which is inside the microphone jack that
may be causing the problem.
You could also try using a compatible external microphone
to see if it works that way.
I suggested using a headphone plug first since most people
have headphones accessible more than microphones.
