Suddenly I have a problem with my D-VHS VCR. When pressing the
standby/power button, the machine powers on for 1 second and then
returns to standby. Its not possible to bring the VCR to normal
operation .Unplugging from power did not solve it. This problem
ocurred from one day to the other.
Anybody here with this machine knowing what to do without bringing it
to repair ?

In North America, they won't let us buy this type of D-VHS VCR.
The only D-VHS models available here are the ones that will only record
from DBS satellite broadcasts or record High-Definition Video through an
external tuner box.

But, your problem sounds like it may be caused by a fault in the
tape-transport mechanism or possibly a jammed or twisted tape that is
stuck in the works and causes the power to automatically shut off. Does
the tape cassette eject properly? If not, you could carefully remove
the top housing of the VCR and watch what happens when you turn it on.
If the tape is jammed, you may be able to see such a problem and gently
extract it. Be sure to unplug the VCR before handling any internal
parts or removing the cover. If you don't want to take a chance on
opening it yourself, a trip to a repair shop is probably necessary.
Good Luck.
