Here in Canada, DVD X-Copy is still on store shelves (like Best Buy,
etc).

I know that the DVD X-Copy program is not usable unless (or until) it
is registered with 321 Studios over the internet by using the serial
number inside the box.

So my question is - can DVD X-copy still be registered (and hence
become functional) at this point - or not?

Unrelated questions:

1) Are there activation hacks available for it?

2) Has anyone opened the retail boxes of various versions of DVD
X-copy and written down the serial numbers and then used those serial
numbers to activate other copies (or downloaded versions) of the
software?

i just bought a games x copy from cheapsoftware. it arrived yesterday
so i installed it. it prompted for license id and password and force
you to call or connect to internet to activate. the problem is where
the heck is license and password. nothing in the box will indicate
that. the document said it should come with a receipt or under a cd in
the cd box. hello, where the heck is that? i can't activate my copy
thorugh internet because my computer is not connect to the net so when
i called the 888 number which said 24/7 support it prompts me to call
another number during business hour. okay, a day later, i called this
second number and it said that 321 no longer support this product.
hell yes! i just paid forty two bucks for this shit. i'm calling their
website listed support number right now and i'm putting on hold for
hours. i am really pissed with these con artist people...if they don't
make it easy enough for people who bought their software why the heck
they are in business for? i wish those lawyer sues their ass off and
put them in jail.

so to answer your question...there is no serial number, no license id
and password anywhere in the store bought box to start activation
process. it is all about lies and deceit. i will never buy another
product from these people, the 321 what the heck that is.

WHo did you buy the software from? Return it stating those facts and demand
your money back.

Just use DVD Shrink, it's free and is probably better on the whole.

DVD X Copy Platinum

1) is usable even though company is gone. But you must
have both license number and password ... on the inside
or the case ...

2) has some advantages of Shrink

Rescue X application that comes with platinum is very
powerful especially with foreign films

the simple form (insert it and forget it) automatically
strips away everything other than the movie ... the
result is better compression level and thus better
picture

in sum I use DVD X Copy for the very straight forward
and very hard burns ... for everything in between I use
Decryper and Shrink (free) as settup for Nero burn

nonetheless I would suggest getting a copy of DVD X

There is a key generator out, but it is tricky to use, it will work on
4.0.38 only, later or newer versions will not work, it worked for me, if
you need it let me know. CSS encrypted discs will not be copyed by x copy,
you would need to find older version than 4.0.3.8 in order for it work
