-> Dolby Prologic Surround
-> 125 Watts per channel
-> 40 Watts Rear and Center channels
3 VCR Input/Outputs, 1 LD Input, TV, Video, Tape1/Dat, Tape2/Monitor,
CD, Tuner, and Phono. 30 tuner presets with naming capabilities (eg
WXRK, JAZZ, etc.). Smart Programmable remote for all components of
the system.
This baby has more features than a Lexus and has worked perfectly since
day one. The surround sound really cranks. The only reason I am selling
it is that they make a different reciever that will allow me to play two
signals to two sets of speakers and since I have this puppy running my
entire house, it makes a lot of sense.
It originally retailed for about $1100...
Does anyone know what this is worth now and what I should ask for it?
Any offers?
Thanks.

hmm, not exactly predeccesor. the vsx-9700s model became the vsx-9900s
(which i have), which became the vsx-d901s, which became the vsx-d902s.
the vsx-d1s and vsx-d1s ii (same as d1s but with next generation remote)
were one model higher.

well, considering the current model is available for about $700 mail order,
and the 9700s is >3 years old, i'd guess that it wouldn't be worth more than
about $400 or so.

Thanx,
TLeung
They're selling for CDN$1395 (tax extra 15%) in Ottawa.
Has anybody played with the new Pioneer VSX-D2S? They want around CDN$2200
for one of those puppies here in Ottawa. Ouch! Looks pretty impressive
though.

Doug Zolmer Internet: dw...@bnr.ca Disclaimer: My opinions only
Look right through me
Can't you get it cheaper through mail-order? Maybe not,
as I think I've heard of a VAT or somesuch for Canadians
importing from the US. Maybe NAFTA will change that?
Anyway, I got mine from Computability about 4 years ago
for about $850US shipping included. Get a current copy of
Video magazine and look up their number and call them.
You can't possibly get any service from a local vendor
to justify the $400 markup unless you're a complete bozo
at hooking up a home system. If that's the case, don't
buy such an elaborate system! Even if it is the case,
just go to the local stereo store and buy your Monster
Cables from them and ask for free advice in hooking up
a Dolby Pro-logic system. BTW, the manual for the VSX-D1S
has a lot of good diagrams anyway.
