Can anyone give a positive identity for the Russian satellite occupying
the Statsionar 4 position (14 degrees West/346 East) and broadcasting
Moscow 1 Programma across Europe in C-Band (3.675 GHz Right hand polarity,
SECAM)?
It was (and may still be) Gorizont 15, but I recall reading that this was
to be replaced by an Express series bird by now. Anyone know?
Info is needed for technical section of a book on satellite for language
teaching. Any help gratefully received - UK satellite magazines are
rather unforthcoming on C-Band.

There is a new satellite, Loutch, located at 16 degrees west. This satellite
has Ku band, and the only active frequency listed is 10.835 GHz. Again,
this frequency is outside the "normal" Ku range. I do not have the C band
listing for Ghorizont, but one of the 3675 MHz high power transponder should
have Programma 1 on it. It used to be the one at 14 degrees, but it might
have jumped to the one at 11 degrees.

The C-Band 1 Programma service was definitely still on 14 West until the
other day at least - our faithful Drake receiver decided it wanted an
overhaul. However I gather it's not unknown for the channel (or other
versions of it) to appear on 11 West and other Gorizonts.

Ghorizont at 11 degrees confirmed channels:

3675 MHz Circular Pol. (don't know what direction)
OITV Russian International TV
TV audio @ 7.00 MHz
Radio audio @ 7.50 MHz

(Please note that this channel is below the LNB input and above the LNB
output with an IF of 1475 MHz. Eurosat receiver should work fine)

CH 6 (with a bit of fine tuning) Circular Pol. (direction?)
Goodwill Games feed Path 3

The signal strenght is about the same as Worldnet on Intelsat 27.5
degrees.

Also spotted several colorbars and one program channel on Telecom at 8
degrees East. Signal levels a bit below Ghorizont at 11 degrees. All the
above signals were received on a 4.5 foot dish with linear feedhorn!!!
