Hi again.

Beside cable TV, do any of these satellite TV services even carry ONLY
local broadcast channels for lower costs/prices? I don't care for the
movies, ESPN, AMC, TNT, Discovery, TBS, Nickelodeon, etc. I noticed they
all include them. :(

Thank you in advance. :)

What did the DirecTV and Dish websites say about local packages when
you looked at them?

This is what I researched so far:

Time Warner Cable (TWC):
$52.99 (regular Internet package)
$24.50 (local broadcast TV)
$10-$19.99(whole house) DVR rental (can't use my old DTV Pal DVR)
$49.99 for installation charge
Total = $84.79-$93.79 ($34.50-$43.50 per month for TV service)

Dish:
Welcome Pack -- http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/welcome/
$14.99/$24.99 (local broadcast channels + 40 extra)
$7 = Receiver
$17 = DVR Reciver for two TVs
$6 = DVR Service
$10 for HD addon
Total = $54.99-$64.99 per month

DirecTV:
Entertainment Package --
http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/new_customer/base_packages.jsp?footernavtype=-1&lpos=header
:
$54.99 regular price per month after its promotion.
$29.99 per month promotion for a year with a 2 years contract.
Includes free 1 HD DVR + 3 HD receivers (advanced reciver service), and
4,000+ VoD access.
Free installation.
Total = $84.88 per month.

As you can see, TV service isn't cheap. It seems like cable is the
cheapest. :(

Free is cheaper. For a modest investment equal to a few month's pay service you
can have a competent outdoor antenna installed, or install one yourself for
even less, then pay nothing monthly to watch broadcast TV. I'm 58 miles from
the closest major network transmitters, yet get 32 channels from an antenna
Amazon sells for under $120, plus amplifier for around $40. As a bonus, HD is
real HD, similar to BluRay, not that overcompressed pseudo-HD coming from a
cable that shares duty with internet and phone service.

The problem with over the air antenna in my upcoming home, there's a
giant hill/small mountain blocking the transmitters. I am on the wrong
side. I will try again with a better antenna, but it won't be much. :(
