Subject: SEG phase problem - Help? (JVC)
I recently aquired an old JVC KM-2500U SEG. I am using
it at home, and have noticed a phase problem. My problem
may be operator/installation related, and I am hoping
someone here can help.
Here's my configuration.
JVC KM2500U SEG.
Inputs 1,2,3 are connected to Hotronic Frame syncs. (AP41)
Input 4 is connected to a Tektronix TSG 170D
Genlock between the TSG, and AP41's is daisy
chained off the black burst out of the KM2500, and terminated
with a 75 Ohm resistor. All mixes wipes and key effects
seem to work fine.
I am using a MagniMonitor rasterizing waveform monitor,
and vectorscope.
I use the magni and the Tek TSG to verify, and calibrate
the Sony PVM-1354Q monitors. Then set the above config
up. The inputs all seem fine. However, the PGM out
appears to be phase inverted. the red and blue are opposite.
I can use another TBC to swap the phase with the "Coarse
Phase" adjustment. I am wondering if there is a better way to
correct this by either an internal adjustment to the KM-2500U,
or if there is a cheaper outboard box I could use to correct
the output. I have looked all over the KM-2500U and have found
no really useful adjustments. Could something internal be
miswired? (I don't know the history of this unit, it came
from a college auction.)
Thank you for your time inreading this.
