I saw your old post about Hanimex, which is an Australian company. I think
it would be difficult to find a more than 10 years old video tape machine
that still worked. Have you tried checking with some schools about old
equipment? Hanimex supplies learning tools for classrooms, so perhaps that
is were to get it.

Perhaps some more information would help. Do you have actual tapes in this
format that need to be edited? Could they be converted to a more modern
tape, such as DV or Beta?

There are many possible "home" editors, since equipment gets smaller and
more capable every year. A good example is:

Though it may not work for you. If you have just a player for your tapes,
you may be able to use this at home.

I hate to see an unanswerable question, but that may be the case. Best of
luck.

Ciao!

Gordan,
Thank you very much for your reply. Yes indeed the search seems futile.
But I have to keep looking. I am doing this search for my boss (Dion
Murphy) and I am going to hate going back to him empty handed. I do not
know why he wants the editor or wether he has tapes he wants to edit
either.
Do you really think that even if I find one it wouldn't work?
Do you know of any secondhand A/V specialists anywhere in Australia or
New Zealand?
thanks for your help

My guess is that the tapes would be some variation of Fuji media, since
that is mostly what Hanimex carries. It seems that they may have self
branded a Fuji tape editor. The difficult part would be figuring out if it
was CCTV HQ variant, or some other video tape format.

As for finding an old player, I would be surprised if the heads would still
work on any player that old, but perhaps the company may be able to convert
the tapes for you. Try them directly.

I think you really need to see the tapes to figure out what to do next. The
simple answer for your boss would be yes. The next phase would be figuring
out if it was worth finding an old (possibly broken) editing machine, or
paying some professionals to recover the old footage for you. Personally, I
would rather have someone else figure out the old footage, and get a
conversion to allow you to use a modern editor.

Hope this helps.
