Hi!

I just bought a new Pioneer DVD player for my computer. But like the one I
had before, when I watch DVD movies, sometimes, the image stops for a
miliseconds. I know that It's not the DVD player.
I'm running windows 2000 on a Athlon XP 1800+ (Asus A7V266-E) with 512 RAM.
Is there a setting that could be wrong in the BIOS or somewhere else?

Thx!

Sebastien

I often have that happen with Netflix DVDs on my living room DVD player.

The pauses could be from layer changes, which would actually be normal . . .

But if it happens all the time, then the problem may be due to a laser
alignment problem in your dvd player--or perhaps the dvd disc you are
using is filthy/dusty and needs to be cleaned.

Your graphics card information is probably the most useful piece of
information you left out. ATI's cards tend to have the best dvd hardware
support built into them (at the consumer level), and the stuttering you
are encountering may be due to high CPU use. Try disabling background
programs while playing movies, and also check to see if you have spyware
installed on your system (use Ad-aware from Lavasoft; it's a free
program). Spyware can cause hangups . . .
