I am only assuming, and I could be wrong but, aren't there a lot
of
wedding videographers who read and post in the rec.video newsgroups?
let's face it a lot of us got started in Wedding Videography and some of
us still make a great living doing weddings. Why isn't there a
rec.video.wedding newsgroup? We need one and if someone will please
tell me where to call or who to contact to have one added I'll make it
my mission in life (maybe not my mission but I'll make it happen)!
I know there is WEVA and for what they offer their $100. a year
is a
great deal! Shoot I'm still a member, because of them I got a credit
card machine with no monthly payment and only like a 2% surcharge, try
finding a deal like that at your local bank. For what they offer, trade
show, ideas and discounts they do a great job but, we could all use a
little bit more help and if it didn't cost anything why not?
Let's face it, if you look in your phone book you will see more
wedding
videographers under VIDEO than any other type of video service. We need
to get our shit together and not be so paranoid to share our ideas,
packaging layouts, shooting techniques and marketing tricks!
I'm writing this from Iowa, I've been video taping weddings for
6 years
and have tape over 250 weddings. My prices range from $500 - $750,
please remember I'm in Iowa, things are A LOT LESS expensive here, cost
per wedding is not how to judge a wedding videographers expertise, don't
judge me by my pricing, but by my enthusiasm for us all to help each
other and make things easier for us all in the long run.
I've got a very tight marketing package that I send out, a
clever cover
letter, lots of ideas and an honest approach to providing an important
service that people need. I'd gladly share my info packet with any
other wedding videographers who aren't in direct competition with me as
long as your willing to do the same. Let's do it! I'm on the hunt to
get a rec.video.weddings newsgroup and I need you just as much as you
could use me!
If anyone wants swap materials, knows how to get a newsgroup
added or
needs advice I'll do all I can to help, but remember, one hand washes
the other and both hands wash the face.
Good luck this summer and THANK YOU!

dint know
