i'm ready to move into NLE and i'm a wedding videographer. i have a
good working knowledge of NLE and a flexible budget. i'd greatly
benefit from hearing other wedding videographers who are into NLE and
what systems they use plus the advantages, disadvantages, etc.

I WELCOME YOUR OPINIONS!!

thanks!

So far I've heard that most PC and Mac based non-lin systems are not quite up
to speed for long format productions like a wedding video. Most people using
them are doing them in segments. Doesn't sound like a good way to work. I've
seen a couple of demos on the CASABLANCA, the quality is excellent, it seems
to work painlessly on a longer project, and there's is literally no learning
curve. It doesn't do everything that an Avid or a Premiere based system can do
from an effects stand point. But it's a low-risk, low-cost way to get started.
I'm very seriously considering taking the plinge as I am ready for some new
gear now, and the bigger systems aren't quite ready. You can get an entire
system ready to roll w/ 18 gigs of HD space for about $8000. To even attempt
to produce a 90 minute program on a PC or Mac will cost twice that, and
probably won't be very reliable. E-mail me and I'll keep you posted on my
progress with it.

Bets regards,
Dave

Uhhh, if you think it's low-cost, low-risk, have you checked out the price with
at least a 9 GB hard drive? Last year, I bought a Pentium computer with
everything, including a targa 1000 pro and a 9 GB Barracuda, for $6,700. And
that's when hard drives costed more.

Time to update your perceptions! :)
