I downloaded the Ulead VideoStudio 6
trial version and the Patch 2 file. After
applying the patch, when I try to start the
program I get the following:

u32Cfg

X The security information is invalid or
has been modified. This program
will be terminated.

OK

I didn't get this message when I ran it without
the patch.

Anyone know what's going on? I'd reinstall
skip the patch but I had some wierd things
happen when I did that that may or may not
be attributed to running without the patch.

So far I'm not impressed with the stability
of this program.

Sounds like a security issue. They don't want "you" trying to hack the trial
into a full version so if you make any changes to the program, like applying
a patch, the program becomes disabled.

Silly me. I was just trying to get the trial upgraded with the
latest fixes. I guess they don't want me to have the best trial
experience. I've seen a few wierd things with the original
so assumed the patch might help. I guess I'll have to work
with the buggy trial. If I sound put off by Ulead, I am. I
know it's not a lot of money but with all the video capture/
editing/authoring packages out there I would think they'd
want the trial to work well. I know, silly me.

No thanks. I got enough problems in my life. I don't need
to crack some copyrighted software. If Ulead doesn't want
to provide a current version for trial that's their loss. There's
plenty of other competitively priced alternatives.
