what do I need to rip a piece of dvd ...

Hi, I have a question , pardon me if it seems stupid!
My curch puts on an event 3 to 4 times a year ad we use some clips from
3DVD players all cued to different spots, I have a Mac G4 and wondered
if I could rip the DVD and make a Quicktime movie or you get the idea,
Can this be done, and ow tough isit too pull off?

Sure it can be done and is not very tough. But do you have the permission
from the MPAA to rip the DVD? The MPAA does not like that idea.

Or are your DVD players region locked? Can you get the permission from the
MPAA to decript your DVD movies?
Perhaps the MPAA allows church services to do such kind of acts. If so, I
will tell you the procedures.

I dont think there is anything wrong with ripping a dvd to a different
format if its for personal use.

oh, I was refering to the message about threats of legal action for someone
that posted a dvd ripper on a site.

Actually, threats of legal action caused an outcry in the free software
movement and pushed many people (like me) to start hosting the 'offending'
software on their sites.
