I recently purchased the Panasonic PV-GS70. I'm new to video camers but I was
told that I could transfer the video I record from the camer to my PC using
the DV input/output port.

The software that comes with it only allows you to capture stills.
I was under the impression that I needed to get a 1394 Firewire card and
cable and then there was other software such as Pinnacle Studio or ULead
that I could use to capture the video.

The cables that come with the 1394 cards, don't plug into the camera though.
The documentation on the camera says it's a 4 pin 1394 port, yet the shape
is different than the standard cables.

The documentation with the camera is very weak and I haven't been able to find
anything on the net either.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Paul

Dear Paul,
I'm in the same boat. I like the camera -- the price, the picture I
get, all the other features. I got the right firewire connector,
hooked up to my PC. Windows doesn't see the camera. Weird, because if
I hook the GS70 up to the PC via a USB, it DOES see it. The dinky
Panasonic still capture program works via the USB.

I hooked the GS70 to an old Mac G4 -- the apple computer didn't see
the camera either.

I emailed Panasonic, asked "where are the drivers" and got back a
non-answer.

I was hoping someone would respond to your post but a month later, no
one has... we need help. I don't know where we're gonna get it, tho...

Hi - when the camera is connected, try turning the camera off and on for
windows to recognise the camera.

Yours faithfully,
