Question from a newbie:

I record AVI files with the PC-VCR program from Matrox. This works
fine now.

It's very hard to start and stop the recording at the right time with
this program. Sometimes I want to remove a few trailing frames from a
clip.

I know this is possible with Premiere and Mediastudio (both programs
work fine for me). The thing is that these program not really
'physically' trim the the AVI files on disk, only their appearance in
the both programs.

Is there a way (or progam) that is able to remove frames from
MJPEG/AVI files and making them thus smaller in size.

Many thanks again,

Theo.

If you have the video capture program from Ulead that comes with MSPro, you
can load your .avi into it, mark in/out points, then click on File:Save As.
It will save a new .avi file trimmed to your in/out points. It eats disk
space because you effectively have two of the same file, but then you can
delete the untrimmed file from your HD.

I use this feature to pre-trim clips before I edit, and to break a big clip
into smaller usable chunks.

Use Premiere's project trimmer to make new iles of the trimmed clips.
you can then delete the larger originals.
