On the high end, Avid is a buzz word. If you have an MCXpress system
does it look and work close enough to the more expensive Avid, to let
you say you are using an Avid.
If you learn to use MCXpress, can you step right up to a Media
Composer and start editing. Or is it a totally different animal, with
different look and interface, intended for less professional editing.
MCXpress and Media Composer are quite similar in interface. The big
difference is there are fewer niceties in the MCX. MCX comes in AVR 77, the
highest Avid video resolution available, as does MC. Both are professional
tools.

did, not screaming and yelling like the passengers riding in his car."
Both versions use a Avid's well developed timeline editing model, so you
are always editing with an Avid...

D-Vision is a more powerful system, with more features. Everyone whom I
have talked to who looked at both systems, came to the same conclusion -
D-Vision is signficantly better.
At NAB, even the Avid engineers were hanging around the D-Vision booth
admiring OnLINE 3.0.
