Vdeck sync problems w/ VM

I have recently added a third Vdeck (CVD-1000) to my editing setup
based on Fast VM/Lite. When using dissolves, I found I was getting a
`glitch' at the point where the VM stopped the `A' deck and staged the
`B' deck for the roll. The glitch was a tear in the upper right hand
corner of the frame where the dissolve was started.

Increasing the edit delay for the record deck to about 56 fields
cleaned the glitch up but caused another problem. All of my hard cuts
are now roll in approximately 14 frames too early.

I have now spent close to 6 hours trying to track this problem down
but without any success. I have tweaked setups for both the players
and the recorders in hopes of finding the magic combination which
gives me both clean dissolves and dead-on edits.

Any suggestions? (Already have a call into Fast support but they are
swamped - I guess VM Studio 2.0 is keeping them busy).

I think the V-Decks have a difficult driver to get working. There are about three
different versions of the V-Deck but no easy way to tell them apart. ///FAST is trying
but I don't know how high it is on the list. 2.0 is already out, so that shouldn't be
keeping them too busy. Anyway, it would be great to get the scoop on the odds of
getting a solid driver (and one that fully exploited the deck would be miracle) for
VISCA. I am using two decks for players and frequently have to reload the program or
the drivers to get it to work. When they work they are a dream, when they don't they
are a nightmare. Let me know if you get more info.

Regards,

Richard
