Can anyone here provide detailed settings for creating flash video?

I'm using Adobe Premiere pro CS4 but I suspect the detailed setting
will at least be similar from about any applicaiton.

I'd like to hear some details about things like Frame rate, bit rate,
audio compression and Key frame distance. And the effect these things
have on the final product.

Even size and ratio for web viewing would be nice.

I realize it is a massive field of knowledge, but really only a
handful of things come into play when exporting from some application
or conversion tool. Those things may encompass a vast field but the
actual settings still have to be made by dopes like me who are not so
well versed in all of it.

You could try downloading a few Flash movies, then check them with
Gspot, (I forget the URL to download it, but Google for it) which will
show the information you want for each movie. It's freeware, so it costs
nothing except a few minutes time.

Other than that, 4:3 and 16:9 are the main frame aspect ratios for the
Web, bit rates and so on used vary according to whether you're trying to
transmit across a broadband or narrow band connection. If you want to
check on what's mostly accepted, YouTube use Flash to stream their
stuff, so you could download a couple of their videos and check the
details. If you download a normal definition clip and an HD clip of the
same video, that may help you work out what's doing what.

Hope this helps.

In totally cargo-cult fashion I have settled on
ffmpeg -f dv -i pipe: -pass 1 -passlogfile logfile_basename? -mbd 2 -cmp 2
-subcmp 2 -mv4 1 -r pal -g 300 -b 500000 -ac 2 -ab 64000 -deinterlace -s
384x288 -aspect 4:3 -ar 44100 -y output_flv_file.flv

I use this for videos on sites like http://manband.org.uk/ and
http://legalinmexico.org/.

I daresay it could be bettered, but "better is the enemy of good enough" :-)

"Sounds as if the statistics course helped."
"Well, maybe."
