Hi,

I want to edit VHS videos on my notebook.
Can anyone tell me if the following configuration will work?

Notebook
* Compaq Presario 1615 (Pent. 150MMX, 32 MB, Neomagic MagicGraph128XD
videocard, 1,5 Gb HD)

* BUZ
* SCSI PC-card (SCSI-2 ???)
* external SCSI HD (any suggestions ?)

HD and BUZ will plug into the same SCSI PC-Card

Thanks

Milko

Bad news: The Buz doesn't plug into a SCSI controller. It *is* a SCSI
controller, as well as being a video capture device. The Buz plugs into a
PCI slot. If your notebook had a PCI slot you could plug in the Buz and then
connect the hard drive to the SCSI port on the Buz, but that probably
isn't the case. 150 MHz may be sort of marginal as far as processor
speed goes, too.

If you are willing to go totally hightech and go DV Sony's latest
ultrathin totally chic laptops have a FireWire connector you can use
with a DV camera and Premiere 5.0

Sony only has a 2.1 gig internal drive so you don't have a ton of
room.

Otherwise you should look at PC Card (PCMCIA) based capture cards like
CapSurePro from Irez or others.

Are you sure of your facts here? According to the Sony information the 505
DV connector is for *still* image capture, not for video. I really really
doubt the hard disk in the 505 can do the 4 MByte/sec+ needed for DV video
capture.

If you really do know that this does work please let us know.

The BUZ is a PCI capture card which also has a SCSI controller
onboard.
... so it won`t work with a laptop, unless it has a docking station
with a spare PCI slot....

You`d need something that attaches via the parallel port - e.g. the
Dazzle - this converts to MPEG-1 on the fly..

Buz is a PCI card, so it wont work with you notebook,

I suggest you check out Studio 400 - its is all external and will work
fine with you notebook. For info please see

Am also looking into this.

There are products which use the PCMCIA slot.

Presume you have this?

Will post some suggestions later.
