CC I've heard it is nice in Costa Rica. I've thought about relocating
from the USA to Costa Rica.

Were I to move within America, it would probably be to Costa Rica.

CC How is the economy?

Major national debt but generally not too bad.

CC Are Americans welcome there?

They _are_ Americans but US citizens are not looked upon with disdain.

CC How does the crime rate compare?

It's getting worse everywhere, including there.

CC Are there any political problems there?

Few to none. It's a well-established democracy. The president serves
one six-year term in a lifetime. Generally, they've had really good
people in that office.

CC How does the cost of living compare to the USA?

Dunno. But, generally, food prices are pretty much the same throughout
America. Wages and property values differ greatly. If you head for a
Gringo area, you're going to pay more than if you avoid them.

CC How is the job market ... for computer science types?

Dunno.

CC Are their any tropical diseases to worry about? (malaria, etc...)

My _guess_ is none in the urban areas. Air pollution is a greater
hazard. In San Jose, the smoke-belching Diesel-powered buses have
their exhaust pipe behind the right-rear wheel aimed directly at the
sidewalk. Yuck!
