Hi,

most of my trips to Jamaica have been to Couples... and I've loved it
every time... and Sandals is cool too.

but my wife doesn't swim or do many water sports... it's taken my 2
trips with her to convince her to let me take her out sailing.

and Para-sailing freaks her out totally.

she doesn't swim, ski, or play golf.

so with her (as opposed to first wife) I don't feel as we're getting as
good a deal and was considering a First Class beach hotel/villa.

I've done a villa before and it was "near" AI... client buys the food
and drink but the villas had staff, beach, sailboat, etc

any suggestions for the Negril area OR another fairly non-touristy area.
(last villa was near Duncan... and a trip to town was very non-touristy)

I love Club Med Columbus Isle. It is over 50% French and few young
people. The beach is gorgeous and isolated. The rooms are very nice
and all have a view of the ocean. Meals are very good. It's much
cheaper than other places (Pavlus offers a discount) and it's NOT
Jamaica. They have 14 foot Hobies and so-so snorkeling trips. Scuba is
extra but they have their own boats

now that sounds interesting.

as I understand it Club Meds are now more or less AI (no beads etc)

I like to sail and little hobbies are preferred to sunfish types.

I could practice my French.

I have no problems with Jamaica though.

places like Ocho Rios get corrupted by the Cruise Ship trade and can't
be considered representative.
