I attended "Galapagos" Language School on... Oh what street was it?
Amazonas? It's on the main strip in Quito. (not easy to find, as
everything is called "galapagos"-something-or-other)

I had a lot of fun with the people who worked there. They were very
friendly and had a lot of group things goin on (parties, trips to nearby
cool places, etc.) They'll give you the low-down on all the cool places
in town. Family stays are available. They don't push anything on you.
Pretty cheap. For extended classes they offer certificates accepted by
most academic institutions. Mostly women teachers. Young, hip crowd.

I am a very fun, outgoing person, and they seemed to feed on that and
return it-double. They took me and others in as part of the family.

There are a few dozen "spanish schools" in Quito and a few in Guayaquil.

I attended the Centro Panamericano de Idomas (CPI) school in Costa Rica
during July-August, 1995. It was great. I found the staff most
accommodating in satisfying unusual requests/needs of various students. The
maximum size class is four and quite intensive. They have developed their
own teaching material which covers both grammar and vocabulary. Classes
usually started with a discussion started by either one of the students or
by the teacher (all excellent - a new one each week). It was a bit of a
strain discussing some very controversial subjects all in Spanish. BTW, be
sure you use a family stay wherever you go. I think you will enjoy
yourself immensely if you choose any of the schools in Costa Rica. Contact

Hi,

I can recommend you the Ailola school in Cuenca. I was there for 1 month. I loved it. The city is so nice and also the school (the small garden, so nice to relax:) ). In Ecuador they speak a very clear and easy understanding spanish, that makes it easy to learn and to use it with the people there.
